Competition builds for War Eagles in summer

Putnam County football recently wrapped up the month of June with a camp at rival Morgan County. The War Eagles are now on a short break due to the GHSA-mandated dead week but will start back up July 13, when they host GMC Prep and Brentwood Academy for a 7-on-7 camp.

Seven Putnam baseball players earn All-Region honors

The Putnam County baseball team recently had seven players earn All-Region 4-AA honors. The War Eagles selected to the All-Region 4-AA First and Second teams were Jacob Grimes, Ashton Jones, Jackson Dodd, Westley Essick, Mark Winslette, Tanner Lukens and Branan Griffin.

FOOTBALL: Bland pushes Putnam past Josey

Putnam County’s DJ Bland had a big night in a 40-0 win over Josey High on Friday at Al Reaves Field. The senior wide receiver hauled in a team-high four receptions for 96 yards and two TDs. Bland also led the War Eagles in rushing yards, racking up 76 and a score on one attempt.

Putnam County opened 2022 region play with a massive home victory over Butler this past Friday. The War Eagles (3-1, 1-0 Region 4-AA) pounded the Bulldogs 44-0 at Al Reaves Field. “We cleaned up some things, but honestly, we’ve still got to get better.
