Yarbrough: Reading about illness can make you sick

I feel anxious telling you this because I fear you will be depressed when you hear it, but you and I seem to be a bunch of hypochondriacs. I have received a study from MEDvidi.com, an online mental health treatment center in California that deals with conditions like, well, anxiety and depression.

Yarbrough: No sympathy for First Liberty fellows

Believe it or not, there are a number of things I don’t do well. I could never hit a curveball (or a fastball, for that matter). Still can’t. I have a hard time remembering names and dates. I’m not good at chess and have no clue as to how to play bridge.

Yarbrough: Junior not bugged by polling firm’s snub

I run for re-election every week. Even though the editors appreciate the fact that I am a dead ringer for a young Brad Pitt and occasionally I’m correct on the difference between affect and effect, they want eyeballs right where you happen to be looking at this moment.

Yarbrough: Some random thoughts on random subjects

A lot of people are taking a victory lap after the recent announcement that the nonprofit Conservation Fund has purchased the property on Trail Ridge, adjacent to our Okefenokee National Wildlife Reserve, where Alabama-based Twin Pines Materials had planned to mine for titanium dioxide.

Yarbrough: Threat not over despite Okefenokee victory

As you may be aware, a major victory has been declared in the fight to stop Alabama-based Twin Pines Minerals from strip mining land adjacent to our Okefenokee National Wildlife Reserve in order that the world never run out of toothpaste whitener.

Yarbrough: Tribute to one who made a better world

The late Jasper Dorsey, my former boss and mentor at Southern Bell, taught me a great deal about the business world, but he also taught me a great deal about life. One of the things he emphasized to me is that we must leave the world a better place than we found it. Audrey DeShetler did just that.

Yarbrough: Thoughts about fathers on their special day

This coming Sunday is Father’s Day. I thought I would get a head start on the topic since I happen to be a father, had a great father of my own, sired one who, in turn, sired one, and not to be outdone, a daughter who managed to produce one as well. Therefore, I have some knowledge about fathers.

Yarbrough: Survey says high marks for Georgia cities

I get a lot of mail. Some of it is my fault. Strong opinions begat strong reactions. Humor-impaired wingnuts on both ends of the political spectrum are convinced I am on the end opposite their ideological purity. To them, I am either a “DemoRat” or a “RITNO” (Republican in Trump’s Name Only).
