Keiser sees growth at Gatewood as he steps away

After falling 56-50 to Windsor Academy in a Feb. 10 playoff game, the 2025-26 season will show a 2-20 record for the Gatewood boys basketball team. Still, head coach Don Keiser said he saw something deeper this season than just points on the scoreboard.

Gatewood boys’ struggles continue on the court

Unfortunately, it was three up, three down for the Gatewood Gators last week, with losses to Rock Springs Christian, Briarwood, and Brentwood, dropping their record to 2-18 overall and 0-7 in region play.The Gators visited Rock Springs in Milner on Jan. 27 and left after a 73-61 loss.

Young Gatewood squad shows growth

This season has been one of transition for the Gatewood boys basketball team, but despite heavy roster turnover, the program is showing steady improvement and promising signs for the future.

Gatewood boys coach looks beyond results

Gatewood basketball coach Don Keiser is playing for the future. After 13 games so far this season, his Gators are 2-11 and 0-2 in region play.Still, the veteran coach sees promise in his young team.

Gatewood basketball struggles continue

Following a few years of leading one of the teams to beat, Gatewood basketball head coach Don Keiser is facing a new normal this season. After eight games, the Gators have a 2-6 record, with both wins coming against the same team.

Gatewood Gators head basketball coach Don Keiser has quickly learned this season that nothing comes easy. Injuries, a young roster, and a relentless schedule have tested his team’s depth — but not its fight.

Weakness or weapon?

With just one returning starter, a roster full of underclassmen, and an offseason of irregular practices, Gatewood boys basketball coach Don Keiser could be forgiven for entering the 2025–26 season with caution.

Gators’ roster sees offseason turnover

The Gatewood boys basketball team recently experienced some roster turnover in the offseason.The Gators lost Ames Johnson, JT Gregory, Jake Rich, and Kaiden Keiser to graduation in May.

Gators’ playoff run cut short

Just as he had last Wednesday night at home in Eatonton, Gatewood senior JT Gregory opened the scoring Saturday afternoon at Stratford Academy in Macon with a nothing-but-net 3-pointer.Wednesday’s heroics led to an 88-56 finish over Heritage Prep in the opening round of state playoffs.

Mixed results for Gators at region tourney

Last Thursday, the Gatewood Gators traveled to Windsor Academy, on the south side of Macon, to take on Brentwood in the opening game of the GIAA Region 2-2A tournament, where they fell 74-56 to the War Eagles.
