Eatonton’s ‘Fireman Santa’ hoping for record results

The Eatonton Fire Department hopes to provide at least 250 kids who live within Eatonton city limits with Christmas presents from the department’s 15th annual Fireman Santa’s Sleigh campaign.

Fireworks grant lets EFD go with the flow

When the state of Georgia made consumer fireworks legal in July 2015, legislators also directed some of the new fireworks’ tax revenue be made available via grants to fire departments around the state.

Chief, firefighters honored for service

The city of Eatonton’s former fire chief and two firefighters were recognized and honored for their service at Eatonton Fire Department’s annual Christmas dinner on Dec. 14. Jaelynn Presley and David Hooks were named Firefighters of the Year and recognized by EFD Assistant Fire Chief Carl Buckner.

Eatonton man dies in housefire

An Eatonton man is believed to have been killed in a housefire, authorities say. Eatonton Police Department received a call around 10:11 p.m. Friday that a house at 247 Jenkins Court was on fire, according to Eatonton Police Chief Howell Cardwell.

Eatonton family’s home destroyed by fire

The community is stepping up to help its neighbors after a fire totally destroyed their home. “The house was a total loss but thankfully no one was home so there were no injuries,” Putnam County Fire Chief Thomas McClain said.

Rehab center staff ‘kept everyone safe’

Passersby on State Route 16 last Wednesday, July 12, may have noticed several fire trucks and police cars as well as healthcare workers and patients in wheelchairs outside of Eatonton Health & Rehabilitation.

City Fire Department now has a rescue truck

The City of Eatonton recently added a new truck to its fleet at Eatonton Fire Department. The shiny red Ford F550 “Rescue 1” pickup is being used by firefighters on medical and injury calls, vehicle crashes, and any other rescue work.
