Gatewood Players perform Shrek Jr.

The Gatewood Players put on multiple showings of the play “Shrek Jr.,” on March 21 and 22, for fellow students, family members, and friends. Students in grades three through nine were involved.“I love working with young people in these shows.

Mini-Players ‘make lemonade’ at Gatewood

Gatewood School’s Mini-Players performed the musical play Lemonade twice last Thursday in front of an audience of classmates, friends, and family members.

Lady Gators basketball starts season with even record

The Gatewood girls’ basketball team jumped out to a 1-1 start this season after posting a 52-44 win over Edmund Burke on Nov. 14, followed by a 57-49 loss on Nov. 16 to Westminster School of Augusta.

Gatewood presents One-Act performance at The Plaza

Five schools – Piedmont, Brentwood, Monsignor Donovan, Westminster, and Gatewood – competed in the Literary Region AA One-Act Competition, on Nov. 1 at The Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton.

New high school coming for Gatewood

Gatewood Schools officially broke ground on Oct. 4 on a new high school building, ideally ready for occupation for the 2024-25 school year.

New training facility dedicated at Gatewood

During halftime at last Friday’s home opener for the 2023 football season, Gatewood Schools in Eatonton held a brief dedication ceremony for its new Walt Harper Training Facility, built behind the control tower on the north side of the football field.

Eatonton golfer to play U.S. Amateur championship

With a seven-under-par finish last month in the Rice Planters Amateur at Snee Farm Country Club in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Eatonton’s Max Dupree punched his ticket to play in the U.S. Amateur Aug. 14-20, at Denver’s Cherry Hills Country Club and Colorado Golf Club.

Gators’ basketball visits Athens, attends UGA camp

Several members of the Gatewood boys’ basketball team recently experienced something special. Earlier this month, seven Gators’ varsity hoops players and head coach Don Keiser made the hour-long trip north on U.S. 441 to attend a basketball camp at the University of Georgia in Athens.

Six Gators named All-Region, five All-State

After the most successful season in more than three decades for the Gatewood baseball program, the Gators were able to bring home their first state title since 1990. And the accolades did not stop there.

Lady Gators seek excellence over summer

The Gatewood girls’ basketball team is ready to take the next step. The Lady Gators have been practicing hard individually during the off-season months and recently started summer workouts with the goal of improving as a team.
