BASKETBALL: Gators gear up for region play

The Gatewood boys’ basketball team is heading into this week with only three non-region games left. The Gators (10-3) will begin league play next Tuesday (Jan. 24) against Piedmont Academy.

WRESTLING: Gatewood runner-up at Trinity Christian Invitational

The Gatewood varsity wrestling team competed against 10 other schools on Jan. 14, in the Trinity Christian Invitational at Dublin and finished as tournament runner-up after scoring 115 points.

BASKETBALL: Lady Gators riding high after 8-2 start

The Gatewood girls’ basketball team is off to a hot start under head coach Jordan Camp. The Lady Gators finished the first part of their 2022-23 season with an 8-2 record and will return to action on Jan. 5, at Thomas Jefferson Academy. Gatewood’s latest contest was Dec.

BASKETBALL: Hot start for Gators under Keiser

The Gatewood boys’ basketball team is playing well for head coach Don Keiser so far this season. The Gators are currently 3-1 and have only four more games before the end of the year. They will then face a tough stretch following the winter break.

FOOTBALL: Bennett receives scholarship offer from UNC

In November, Gatewood football’s Evan Bennett received some great news via Twitter. It was a direct message from a football coach at the University of North Carolina inviting the junior running back and his family to visit Chapel Hill and attend a game on campus.

SEMIFINALS BOUND: Gatewood wins, advances to playoff semi-finals

No.5-ranked Gatewood traveled to Augusta on Nov. 18, for its opening playoff game against No. 4 Augusta Prep Day (APD). The Gators returned to Eatonton with a 38-27 victory and a semi-finals date with top-ranked Central Fellowship Christian Academy (CFCA), Friday night in Macon.

BASKETBALL: Keiser, Gators hope for success again in 2022-23

The Gatewood boys’ basketball program enjoyed a lot of success last season under head coach Don Keiser. The Gators went 23-4 overall and made a deep playoff run before losing to Furtah Prep in the Elite Eight. Keiser hopes to bank off last year’s promise.

Gators ‘Swamp Stomp’ Eatonton

More than 120 runners started Gatewood Schools’ 14th annual 5K for Kaye Swamp Stomp on Sep. 18, with Gatewood 8th grader Cale Ferguson the first to reach the finish line precisely 22 minutes, 5.3 seconds later.

FOOTBALL: Gators’ missed opportunities benefit Bucs

The Gatewood Gators visited Briarwood Academy Friday night in Warrenton, where they fell 22-13 to the hometown Buccaneers.
