War Eagles hungry, hoping to be more physical

Youth helps lift War Eagles past Tigers

Putnam County’s youth up front on the offensive and defensive lines and its rushing attack were key to Friday night’s scrimmage victory over Greene County. After trailing at halftime, the War Eagles fought back in the second half to defeat the Tigers, 27-14.

GAME PREVIEW: War Eagles to host Tigers for scrimmage

Putnam County football is set to host Greene County later this week for a scrimmage to end fall camp. The War Eagles and Tigers will hit the gridiron for a second-straight preseason matchup. It will take place at Al Reaves Field on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Competition builds for War Eagles in summer

Putnam County football recently wrapped up the month of June with a camp at rival Morgan County. The War Eagles are now on a short break due to the GHSA-mandated dead week but will start back up July 13, when they host GMC Prep and Brentwood Academy for a 7-on-7 camp.

Harvin, War Eagles prepare for spring game

Newly hired Putnam County football coach Joel Harvin literally hit the ground running on Feb. 17, when he and his family arrived in Eatonton. As the job transition began, the former Early County head coach began meeting with current coaches and players to get settled in at PCHS.
