Senators question state commissioner on Rivian

The state’s top economic development official expressed disappointment Monday with electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Rivian’s decision to delay building a new plant east of Atlanta but said the company remains committed to Georgia.

Rivian pulls plug on EV plant, at least for now

Electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Rivian announced March 7 that it is delaying indefinitely its plan to build an EV plant east of Atlanta, near Madison. Instead, Rivian said it will initially begin building its new R2 midsize SUV at its present location in Illinois.

Appeal being filed to challenge Rivian decision

Following a Jan. 2 ruling by Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit Judge Stephen A. Bradley that dismissed a lawsuit that could have halted development for an electric vehicle manufacturing plant for Rivian, the plaintiffs have appealed.

Rivian bond deal closes; construction to begin next year

Georgia is one step closer to becoming the epicenter of electric vehicle manufacturing after the state and Rivian cleared legal hurdles that sought to derail the manufacturing plant in Morgan and Walton counties.

MAGallery hosts Celebrating Freedom exhibition

MAGallery is hosting the Celebrating Freedom exhibition, by abstract artist Nancy Race, through Sept. 16. Celebrating Freedom opens with a catered reception and live music on Friday, Aug. 18 from 6-8 p.m., where guests will have the opportunity to meet Race and mingle with other artists and guests.

Places Far and Near opens at MAGallery

Madison Artists Guild Gallery (MAGallery) is excited to welcome Atlanta artist Lisa Guyton to its gallery for her one-woman exhibition titled “Places Far and Near.” Guyton is a visual artist who grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and has called Atlanta home since 1995.

Judge orders Rivian opponents to pay bond to continue lawsuit

Work to develop the site for one of Georgia’s largest economic development projects continues for EV-maker Rivian as multiple cases work their way through courts. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Thomas A. Cox Jr. ruled on April 21 that the state is entitled to a bond of $364,619.
