Putnam boys begin to gain ground

After a 3-3 start to the 2025-26 season, the Putnam County boys basketball team is on the rise. Heading into the holiday break, the War Eagles (7-3) have won four consecutive games since Dec. 9.“We’ve been playing well; we’ve been finding ourselves,” Putnam head coach Patrick Marshall said.

Putnam's Greene reaches career milestone

Putnam County’s Jmari Greene recently surpassed a significant milestone in his high school basketball career. The senior War Eagle scored his 1,000th point Dec. 9 in a 76-49 home win over Jasper County.Greene entered the game against the Hurricanes just seven points shy of reaching quadruple digits.

War Eagles drop two close games

Over the holiday break, Putnam County’s boys basketball team was active, playing two games.The War Eagles hosted rival and Class 3A’s No. 7 Baldwin on Friday and fell 64-63 to the Braves. The next day, they participated in the HypeSouth Classic in Macon and lost to Class 5A’s No.

War Eagles recognized as No. 1 in preseason poll

The Putnam County boys basketball team is coming off one of its best seasons in program history.The War Eagles finished their 2024-25 campaign 27-3 overall and reached the Elite Eight of Class A Division I playoffs. Last year, they started outside of SandySpiel.

War Eagles look to rebound over summer

After a disappointing loss to East Laurens in the Elite Eight round of the Class A Division I state playoffs last February, the Putnam County boys basketball team started its summer schedule earlier this week.
