War Eagles hope to get first W against Haralson

Putnam County (0-3) hopes to get its first win of the season this Friday against Haralson County (1-2).This Friday’s 7:30 pm. kickoff at Al Reaves Field will be the first meeting between both teams.The Rebels of Tallapoosa are coming off a 25-3 loss to nearby Greene County.

War Eagles look for answers after loss to Morgan County

Putnam County is looking for answers after suffering a 42-28 home loss to rival Morgan County this past Friday.The War Eagles are off to a 0-2 start for the second consecutive season, but head coach Joel Harvin doesn’t want his players to panic.“We’re still trying to find our identity,” Harvin said.

Putnam to face familiar foe on Friday

Putnam County has a chance to right its wrongs this Friday in Augusta against former region foe Laney. The War Eagles (0-2) will be seeking their first victory this season, hoping it will be over the Wildcats (1-1).“[Laney] has always got physical kids,” Putnam head coach Joel Harvin said.

War Eagles fall to Tigers in opener

Putnam County’s season didn’t start as it wanted, as the War Eagles suffered a 28-20 loss to Greene County on the road. Putnam battled to the end, but a few mistakes led to the Tigers holding on for a close win.

Putnam, Morgan ready to resume rivalry on gridiron

Putnam County and Morgan County will meet on the gridiron for the first time since 2021 this Friday in Eatonton. The ‘Dogs lead the all-time series 31-18-1, but the War Eagles have won the last two games by a combined 42-2 score.Putnam County head coach Joel Harvin is happy the rivalry is back.

War Eagles seek to improve after scrimmage

Last Friday at West Laurens, Putnam County’s football team played its first of two scheduled preseason scrimmages.After a rough first half, the War Eagles hit their stride and played well against the Raiders in the final two quarters.

Putnam preps for preseason scrimmage

Putnam County’s football team will travel to Dexter to scrimmage West Laurens at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.The War Eagles’ scrimmage against the Raiders will be the first of two this preseason. They will face former region foe and long-time rival Washington County on Aug.

Putnam County football's Rashod Daniel finds college home

Putnam County football senior Rashod Daniel has already determined where he will play college football. Daniel recently announced he will continue his career on the gridiron at the United States Military Academy (USMC) in West Point, N.Y., after graduating next year.

PCHS football golf tourney exceeds expectations

Putnam County High School’s football boosters raised money to support this season’s program with their annual golf tournament Saturday at Harbor Club in Greensboro.The tournament kicked off around 9 a.m. and lasted a couple of hours. Each team played 18 holes of golf.
