Daniel finds new college home at Cumberland

After de-committing from Army, Putnam County’s Rashod Daniel has found his new college home.The senior War Eagles’ running back and linebacker recently announced he has committed to play at Cumberland University, a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics program in Lebanon, Tenn.

‘J-Rob’ focused on future following injury

Last fall, Putnam County quarterback Jamarion Robertson saw his senior football season cut short due to an injury.A 6-foot-3, 180-pound prospect, Robertson broke his jaw during the first drive against Haralson in the War Eagles' fourth game of the 2024 season.

Wright, Reaves win state titles

Two former Putnam County High School football players and graduates recently won state titles as coaches.Caleb Reaves and Damoio’n Wright achieved greatness, plus a goal they’ve wanted to attain since the end of last season.

Former War Eagle Malik Thornton enters transfer portal

Malik Thornton announced late last month via his X (Twitter) account that he is leaving the University of the Cumberlands to enter the transfer portal. The former Putnam County High School standout has played for the Patriots for the last three years.

War Eagle grad eager to win another state title

Former Putnam County football player Caleb Reaves is ready to win a second-straight state title in just three seasons with Milton High School.Reaves is the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach for the Eagles, who defeated Walton to win the Class 7A state championship last year.

Daniel invited to high-profile football camps

Putnam County running back and linebacker Rashod Daniel has received high praise for his skills on the gridiron.Daniel was invited to the Under Armour Atlanta football camp in February and competed against some of the best prospects in the nation. Daniel will also attend a Rivals.

College football coaches visit Putnam County

Several college football coaches recently stopped by Putnam County High School to check on its players. Coaches from in-state institutions Kennesaw State, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, and Albany State, as well as Liberty University in Virginia, made trips to Eatonton last week.

Former Putnam QB Kilgore transferring from Tennessee Tech

Former Putnam County quarterback Gerald Kilgore announced last week that he is seeking a transfer from Tennessee Tech, where he originally signed in 2021 out of high school. Kilgore broke the news on Nov. 30 on his personal X (Twitter) account.

Kilgore returns to play in front of family and friends

Former Putnam County football player Jalon Kilgore returns to his home state this Saturday as the South Carolina Gamecocks travel to Athens to face the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs. Kilgore has made an instant impact on the Gamecocks’ defense.
