Three War Eagles earn All-Region honors

The Putnam County boys basketball team recently had three players earn All-Region 4-AA honors. War Eagle senior Eren Banks and junior Landon Bonner were named to the Region 4-AA First Team. Meanwhile, senior Keyni Crawford was named to the Region 4-AA Second Team.

Young Lady Eagles get a feel for winning

Putnam County’s Lady Eagles faced a short-handed Laney team in tennis on Feb. 28, leading to forfeit points in what turned out to be a rout. The Lady Eagles needed only one match to win due to the forfeit but did more than that, winning 5-0 overall.

AP Honor School state recognition increases for PCHS

Putnam County High School received three Advanced Placement (AP) School honors on Feb. 16, a press release from State School Superintendent Richard Woods stated. Last year, PCHS received only one AP School honor, showing the school’s advanced-placement offerings have significantly expanded.

Frisch, Lower among PCHS qualifiers for state

Putnam County sophomore Lily Frisch and freshman Jade Mullis competed in the girls’ wrestling sectionals for a chance to qualify for state on Feb. 10. Each then faced a tough bracket at the state individuals meet last week. Frisch was able to make her way to sixth in her bracket.

War Eagles out to rough start on the diamond

The Putnam County War Eagles baseball team got off to a rough start this season with an 0-4 record before finally scoring their first victory Monday night with a 17-4 decision at home against Athens Academy.

Cash captures 3rd-straight Beta Club win

Several Putnam County High School (PCHS) students traveled to Savannah Jan. 25-27, for the Senior Beta Club State Convention, where five took honors that send them to the National Beta Convention in June at Louisville, Ky.

WRESTLING: Tie breaker decides Mat Eagles' result

It all came down to a tie-breaking technicality on Jan. 14, for the Putnam County High School (PCHS) boys’ wrestling team. Over the past two weeks, the GHSA held several dual-meet wrestling state championships to find Georgia’s top high-school wrestling teams.

PCHS showcases artistic talent

Holiday cheer filled the halls and walls of Putnam County High School on Dec. 8, as Holiday in Our Halls showcased the artwork and various talents of numerous students. Among the biggest displays was a Christmas tree lane, which also served as a fundraiser for several PCHS student organizations.
