Chase, manhunt end with two suspects captured

Two men are in jail after a high-speed chase and manhunt that lasted more than eight hours ended under a residential trailer on May 16, authorities say.“It was one of those good days,” said Putnam County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Col. Russell Blenk. “We had everybody there, other agencies helping us.

Eatonton father killed in head-on collision

An Eatonton father was apparently killed in a head-on collision Friday, according to Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills.Terence Butts, 45, of Eatonton, died in the crash that happened around 3:45 p.m. May 17.

Pound of meth pulled from Eatonton’s streets

Once again, the Eatonton Police Department and Putnam County Sheriff’s Office combined forces to get drugs off the streets of Eatonton and Putnam County. This time, it was more than a pound of methamphetamine.

Citizens lose thousands of dollars to scams

Local residents have lost thousands of dollars due to scams recently, and Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills says he is frustrated that it’s happening so often.“It’s why we don’t have bank robberies anymore,” Sills opined.
