Confederate bonds at the Old School History Museum

At first glance, it looks all over the world like a large pane of funky old postage stamps. Today the pane, roughly 18 inches square, lies on a display case in the “history room” of the Old School History Museum (OSHM) in Eatonton’s Plaza Arts Center on Madison Avenue.

TEF reaches Giving Tuesday fundraising goal

The objective for the Thillen Education Foundation (TEF) on Giving Tuesday (Nov. 29), was to replenish $120,000 in financial assistance awarded to the first graduated class of students in the career coaching program at Greene County High School (GCHS).

BASKETBALL: War Eagles drop first game of season

After a 5-0 start, No. 6 Putnam County lost its first varsity basketball game of the year on the road against rival Morgan County. The Bulldogs dramatically defeated the War Eagles 70-69 on Saturday. According to Putnam County head coach LaPatrick Marshall, there’s actually some upside to the loss.

BASKETBALL: Lady Gators off to hot start

The Gatewood girls’ basketball team is off to an excellent start under head coach Jordan Camp. The Lady Gators currently have an 8-1 record under Camp in her fourth year at the helm. “The season is going well,” Camp said.

Woman arrested for stabbing boyfriend

An Eatonton woman was arrested for stabbing her boyfriend in the chest with a pair of scissors, according to authorities. When Eatonton Police Department officers Dillon Waldroup and Sgt. Eli James responded to the 911 call and arrived at the residence in Montgomery Homes around 3 a.m.

WRESTLING: War Eagles start season strong

The Putnam County High School wrestling team traveled on Nov. 29, to face former region foe, Lamar County, in Barnesville. The Trojans of Lamar are five-time region champions and defeated Putnam 72-9 last year in the region finals.
