Red zone woes plague War Eagles in loss to Laney

Putnam County (5-4, 4-2 Region 4-AA) had plenty of chances to score inside the red zone this past Friday against Laney (6-2-1, 5-1), but the War Eagles couldn’t punch it in when it mattered most. The Wildcats also stepped up on defense when needed, leading to a 27-6 victory over Putnam County.

Trio of War Eagles power Putnam past Butler

Putnam County recorded its second-straight win Friday, defeating Butler in its Region 4-AA opener. War Eagles’ running backs Rashod Daniel and Kaleb Crawford combined to rush for 211 yards and three scores as the War Eagles defeated Butler 35-12 in their Region 4-AA opener last Friday.

Youth helps lift War Eagles past Tigers

Putnam County’s youth up front on the offensive and defensive lines and its rushing attack were key to Friday night’s scrimmage victory over Greene County. After trailing at halftime, the War Eagles fought back in the second half to defeat the Tigers, 27-14.

Daniel earns preseason All-State selection

Putnam County’s Rashod Daniel has been named a preseason all-state selection for Class AA by RecruitGeorgia. com, a site that covers high school sports in Georgia and helps its players get exposure. Daniel, who plays both ways for the War Eagles, was selected as a linebacker on Class AA’s defense.

Putnam County got back in the win column Friday with a 42-13 victory over Jasper County. The War Eagles’ offensive explosion was led by senior running back Tamarion Peters, who recorded a hat trick, rushing for three touchdowns and a total of 126 yards. Peters averaged 9.
