Gators’ playoff run cut short

Just as he had last Wednesday night at home in Eatonton, Gatewood senior JT Gregory opened the scoring Saturday afternoon at Stratford Academy in Macon with a nothing-but-net 3-pointer.Wednesday’s heroics led to an 88-56 finish over Heritage Prep in the opening round of state playoffs.

Mixed results for Gators at region tourney

Last Thursday, the Gatewood Gators traveled to Windsor Academy, on the south side of Macon, to take on Brentwood in the opening game of the GIAA Region 2-2A tournament, where they fell 74-56 to the War Eagles.

Gators perfect at home, heading to playoffs

The Gatewood Gators wrapped up their 2024-25 regular season last Tuesday night with an 80-70 win over the visiting Central Fellowship Christian Academy Lancers.

Gators solidify playoff position

The Gatewood Gators (17-4, 5-2) earned a little payback Friday night in Eatonton with a 77-70 win over the Brentwood War Eagles (17-3, 4-3). Early last month, Gatewood fell 81-67 to Brentwood in Sandersville.The win maintained their perfect record at home so far this season at 10-0.

Gators cruise to win over Crusaders

Last Friday night in Eatonton, the Gatewood Gators earned a 72-53 victory over the Trinity Christian Crusaders while delivering to head coach Don Keiser his 300th career win as a high school basketball coach.

Mixed results for Gators on road

Gatewood (14-4, 3-2) recently played three consecutive region away games, resulting in a loss sandwiched between two wins.The run started Jan. 14 in Dublin, where the Gators beat Trinity Christian 68-60 for the Crusaders’ 15th-straight loss since the 2024-25 season began.

Consistency proves elusive for Gators

The Gatewood Gators played three times last week, winning 74-64 at home on Tuesday over Windsor Academy, dropping an 81-67 decision at Brentwood on Thursday, and getting back on the right track with an 84-66 decision over Augusta Prep Day (APD) on Saturday afternoon in Eatonton.

Gatewood gets back to winning ways

After ending 2024 with a loss to Athens Academy on Dec. 28, Gatewood returned to winning ways last Friday with a 74-53 win over Mount De Sales. The Gators followed up the next day at First Presbyterian Day, boosting their season record to 10-2 with a dominating 67-27 victory in Macon.

Gators experience split results at Athens Christmas tourney

During their Christmas break, Gatewood’s basketball team visited Athens last Friday and Saturday for the Spartan Holiday Classic, a brief, four-team tournament with host Athens Academy, Mt. Pisgah Christian out of Johns Creek, and Westminster Christian Academy from Watkinsville.

Gators rebound with big win over GMC Prep

A six-game undefeated streak to open the 2024-25 season came to an end for Gatewood (7-1) last Thursday in Perry, where the Westfield Hornets (5-5) downed the Gators 64-57.
