Head-on collision claims father's life

An Eatonton man was killed in a head-on collision this afternoon, according to Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills. Terrance Butts, 45, of Eatonton, was killed in the crash that happened around 3:45 p.m. today (May 17).

A literal end of an era arrived for Eatonton on April 13, as Blackwell Furniture, a mainstay of the city’s downtown business fabric for 78 years, officially began its going-out-of-business sale.

Credit coming to Eatonton gas, garbage customers

According to a City of Eatonton press release, Mayor John Reid and the city council approved a utility bill credit on Feb. 7, in the amount of $100 per account for all Eatonton customers with active gas and/or garbage service.
