Greene signs to play at next level

Putnam County senior Jmari Greene is taking the next step in his basketball journey, officially signing a letter of intent to play at Andrew College.

Dublin's luck runs out against War Eagles in second round

The No. 6 seed Putnam County boys basketball team (23-7) showed no signs of slowing down, cruising past No. 11 Dublin in the second round of the GHSA Class A Division I state playoffs on Feb. 28. The War Eagles dominated the Fighting Irish (9-22), advancing to the Elite Eight with a 79-50 win.

Putnam's Greene reaches career milestone

Putnam County’s Jmari Greene recently surpassed a significant milestone in his high school basketball career. The senior War Eagle scored his 1,000th point Dec. 9 in a 76-49 home win over Jasper County.Greene entered the game against the Hurricanes just seven points shy of reaching quadruple digits.

War Eagles earn All-Region honors

Following a successful 2024-25 season, several Putnam County boys basketball players earned All-Region honors. Four War Eagles players were selected for the All-Region team, with five others recognized on the honorable mention list.

From Sweet to Elite: War Eagles blaze their way through first two playoff rounds

“Two down, three to go” is what Putnam County basketball coach Patrick Marshall said after his team defeated Central Macon and Commerce in the first two rounds of the Class A Division I playoffs.

PCHS basketball players earn postseason honors

Following the 2023-24 season, Putnam County High School’s (PCHS) basketball teams had several players earn All-Region honors. Neither team made the Class AA state playoffs, but the region’s coaches voted on the postseason awards last week.

War Eagles knock off rivals Greene, Morgan

The Putnam County boys’ basketball team remains undefeated after knocking off rivals Greene County (80–76) and Morgan County (70-55) this past weekend, giving the War Eagles a 6-0 record.

War Eagles soaring with wins over Jasper, Greene

Putnam County boys’ basketball added two more wins against Jasper County and Greene County last week. The War Eagles enter this week at 4-0 with two more chances for wins this upcoming weekend. They’ll host two home games, starting Friday against Greene County and Saturday with Morgan County.
