Dublin's luck runs out against War Eagles in second round

The No. 6 seed Putnam County boys basketball team (23-7) showed no signs of slowing down, cruising past No. 11 Dublin in the second round of the GHSA Class A Division I state playoffs on Feb. 28. The War Eagles dominated the Fighting Irish (9-22), advancing to the Elite Eight with a 79-50 win.

From Sweet to Elite: War Eagles blaze their way through first two playoff rounds

‘Inconsistent’ War Eagles get two region wins

Putnam County bounced back last week with a pair of road region victories over Josey and Laney. The War Eagles topped Josey last Tuesday 67-54 before defeating Laney 81-75 on Friday.

War Eagles soaring with wins over Jasper, Greene

Putnam County boys’ basketball added two more wins against Jasper County and Greene County last week. The War Eagles enter this week at 4-0 with two more chances for wins this upcoming weekend. They’ll host two home games, starting Friday against Greene County and Saturday with Morgan County.
