Melodee and Juan DeVevo, founding members of Christian rock band Casting Crowns, will be at Grace Fellowship Church (1971 S. Main Street, Greensboro) Oct. 17, performing in the Life is Sweet fall fundraising concert to benefit First Call Pregnancy Center (FCPC).
The concert will begin at 7 p.m., and attendance is free thanks to the generous sponsorship of Greensboro Tire/Pro Tire. (However, tickets are required for attendance.)
The husband-and-wife DeVevos are original members of the Grammy and Dove Award-winning band originally from Florida, but now based in Stockbridge, Ga. Melodee DeVevo plays violin and cello and sings, while Juan is a writer, producer, guitarist and vocalist for the group that formed in 1999.
A leader among Christian music peers, Casting Crowns’ career sales have exceeded 10-million records and they are the secondfastest Christian band in history to have their first two albums certified platinum. They also have received many awards and honors, including the CCM Choice Awards’ “Favorite Band,” “Favorite Album” and “Inspirational Single of the Year” honors.
Founded in 2005, FCPC serves women in Greene, Hancock, Morgan, Putnam and Taliaferro Counties by helping to educate, support and empower them in unplanned pregnancy. The Center strives to meet the physical, emotional, material and spiritual needs of women and men and services are completely free.
Among the services at FCPC are pregnancy testing, free ultrasounds, education about pregnancy and early parenting, a boutique where expectant parents can earn items for their baby including formula, diapers, baby clothes, maternity clothes, baby equipment and more.
Space is limited at the venue and again, tickets are required to attend. Although free, those interested in attending should reserve a ticket as soon as possible by visiting online to firstcall.me or by calling 706-453-1908.
