Comedian Karen Mills is returning to The Plaza on Feb. 16 and once again bringing the laughs.
Mills has been a nationally touring comedian for more than 25 years.
She can be heard daily on SiriusXM comedy channels, and online clips from her comedy special “Pink Pants” have received more than over 21 million views. Mills also appeared on Season 12 of America’s Got Talent and has made several appearances at The Grand Ole Opry.
Currently, Mills is touring theaters across the country with Leanne Morgan. They have worked together since 2004 after meeting during the Southern Fried Chicks comedy tour.
Mills started playing basketball in the 3rd grade and eventually earned a full scholarship to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. In 1981, she led the nation in assists and became the first Division 1, first-team All-American in UT-Chattanooga’s history – male or female.
The school later retired her No. 12 uniform and in 1981 she became the first woman inducted into Chattanooga’s Basketball Hall of Fame.
In her comedy, Mills employs a straightforward approach to the realities of life. Her smart, funny, keen observations will keep you laughing at yourself as you relate to her experiences. Even ovarian cancer couldn’t stop her from turning pain into punchlines.
Diagnosed in 2013 after a routine checkup, Mills was determined to take on the disease with hope and humor, and in 2016 it led to her presenting “Cancer is a Laughing Matter,” a personal but very funny talk at TEDxChattanooga. Tickets to see Karen Mills are available now for a perfect date night, girl’s night out, or just a fun evening with friends.
Tickets are $25-$45 each and can be purchased online at plazacenter.org or by calling The Plaza office at 706-923-1655.
