Eatonton scarecrow winners crowned

A month of voting online and at Eatonton City Hall has determined the winners of the 2023 Eatonton Main Street Scarecrow Contest & Showcase.

In the Business category, first place went to the Eatonton- Putnam Water & Sewer Authority, second was Pirtek Macon, and Legacy Homes Corp. placed third.

Each winner in the Business category received free advertising from Smith Communications, publisher of among other titles, for their respective businesses. As the overall winner, the Eatonton-Putnam Water & Sewer Authority also was awarded a complimentary team-building experience from LumberJaxe Axe Throwing Hall in downtown Eatonton.

The Non-Business category saw Putnam County High School’s 2024 Leadership Class take first place, with Lake Country Baptist Church-Children placing second and the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia Troop 60516 third.

Winners in the Non-Business Category received a monetary prize from Eatonton Main Street, as well as gift certificates from local businesses.

“Once the contest was over, there were more than 10,000 votes that had been cast,” Eatonton Main Street Manager Lauren Singleton said. “It’s always great seeing the participants and the public enjoy the scarecrow contest.”

Singleton added that Eatonton Main Street thanks all sponsors of the 2023 Scarecrow Contest & Showcase, including Smith Communications, LumberJaxe Axe Throwing Hall, The People’s Bank, Oconee Radio Group, The Mill’s Edge Salon, and Farmers & Merchants Bank.
