With just a week and a half left to reach its goal of providing an age-appropriate book monthly to 500 Greene and Putnam County children, Ferst Readers of Greene and Putnam Counties is in its final push to raise $21,000 through its fall fundraiser.
Ferst Readers’ “stack of books” graphic makes clear ticket sales have now gone past halfway thanks to the generosity of local donors. However, online sales have not yet been counted and Ferst Readers recognizes many donors have used its convenient QR code to “adopt” a reader.
Additionally, at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16 at Lake Oconee Bistro, Ferst Readers will conduct several drawings for prizes generously donated by local merchants and restaurants. Winners do not need to be present, but Ferst Readers invites everyone to join in and stay for dinner.

All Ferst Readers community action team members have tickets available, too, while the QR code remains available for purchasing a ticket online.
As a publicly funded non-profit organization, Ferst Readers promotes the development of early childhood literacy skills in children from birth to age 5, especially to those who need the most help with getting access to age-appropriate books for their homes.
