Ferst Readers of Greene and Putnam Counties is offering an opportunity to give the gift of literacy to a young child and have a chance to win a prize in its 2 Ways 2 Win fall fundraiser.
After two years without raffle prizes, Ferst Readers is again offering them through the support of local shops and restaurants. Each $36 raffle ticket allows participants to “adopt a reader” and submits their name to potentially win a prize. The more tickets bought, the greater the chances of winning, and more young readers will benefit.
All children living in Greene and Putnam counties (birth to 5 years old) are eligible to receive new, age-appropriate books every month for one year.
Ferst Readers’ local fall fundraising goal is to raise at least $18,000, which would provide books to 500 children in Greene and Putnam counties for the coming year.
The drawing will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 3, in the Magnolia Room at Lake Oconee Bistro. Winners do not have to be present to receive any of the available 20 prizes.
Tickets can be purchased from Cathy Mize at 478-454-7150, Carol Kuhn at 443-867-2012, or Diana O’Keefe at 706-467-3765. All Ferst Readers funding stems from public generosity.
Donors who want to contribute, but not participate in the raffle drawing, can go online to https://bit.ly/ GreenePutnamAdoptaReader or by scanning the QR code.
