A GWM Book Review: Operation Destiny

Matt Kane, a freelance Minneapolis investigative journalist, receives a late-night phone call from a woman who sounds young to him.

She volunteers to meet him the next evening to provide him with evidence regarding a pharmaceutical investigation. The meeting at a serene and peaceful park ends with Matt lying face down in a muddy field, clinging to life.

Why would someone want to kill Matt over a routine investigation? It never crossed his mind that he was about to become the key figure in an attempt to reshape world order.

This is the start of an international investigation and intensive hunt for the woman behind the assassination attempt and the organization that had assigned her.

It’s 1954 and Kane is pulled back to his days as a World War II Army Intelligence officer. He and the Minneapolis police, FBI and several European intelligence sources collaborate in a detailed search that captures readers’ attention from page one.

Operation Destiny describes a global search for a Nazi organization intent on fulfilling Hitler's sinister objectives. The details will leave readers convinced such an effort is achievable. That reality frightens, yet the adventure excites, as this book has drama, action, and even a touch of romance. Like a Clancy or Ludlum spy thriller, readers will be entranced by the depth and detail of Operation Destiny.

Established author, Dr. Donald J. Lloyd, is a college professor and consultant with the necessary background to write such a thrilling mystery. He is wellversed in European geography and the inner workings of military intelligence.

Readers will be impressed with the details and extensive travels of Lloyd’s complex characters. His character descriptions and plot developments create a compelling and enticing story, and as with all good novels, the ending provides a sigh of satisfaction and closure.

I thoroughly recommend this book to all who enjoy suspense with a historical perspective.

Don Lloyd will be Georgia Writers Museum’s “Meet the Author” presenter Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m., with doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available for purchase at the Georgia Writers Museum (109 S. Jefferson Ave., Eatonton), or by visiting www.georgiawritersmuseum. org to register and pre-order a copy of Operation Destiny. Dr.

Lloyd will be signing books following his talk.
