Season 2 of the PBS program View Finders is airing in over 55 million homes throughout the United States. The unscripted show follows two photographers searching for beautiful places to photograph.
The show features stunning footage of the locations and interviews with experts about what makes each place unique. Locals can watch the Emmy-nominated TV program on GPB.
One of the two photographers, Chris Greer, will be the Georgia Writers Museum Meet the Author presenter on Tuesday, March 4, at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.).
Tickets are $40 each, including a gourmet meal prepared by Chef Brent and themed around Chris’ book, Naturally Georgia. Georgia is a state of great geographical diversity, from the Atlantic Ocean to the temperate rainforest of the southern Appalachians.
Thousands of meandering creeks twist and turn their way through the coastal marsh, filling and emptying its 400,000 acres twice daily with tides that average seven feet or even higher. Plenty of beauty, including rolling farmland, intriguing barns, and stately old trees, have witnessed incredible change since Georgia’s inception in 1788.
It is a place of remarkable beauty that sets a perfect scene for a landscape photographer. The Mountains, the Heartland, the South, and the Coast are gorgeous backdrops where Greer captures the essence of the state in this showcase of the splendor that is Naturally Georgia.
Greer is an award-winning photographer, author, Georgia College professor, and television producer. He wrote and photographed the best-selling book Georgia Discovered: Exploring the Best of the Peach State and Naturally Georgia: From the Mountains to the Coast.
His work has been featured in galleries, exhibitions, magazines, and various online media outlets. When he isn't taking photos or teaching classes, he lives in Athens with his wife and two young boys when he isn't taking pictures or teaching classes.
“I have always had a love for photography,” Greer said. “And I started taking pictures at a very young age (within minutes of my dad handing me a fully manual Pentax K1000 back in 1992). Over the past several decades, I have traveled the world and taught college photography classes in faraway locations such as Australia and Italy. My camera is always by my side during my frequent travels, and I strive to capture the beauty of our world in unique and visually exciting ways.”
