GWM ‘Meet the Author’ with mystery writer Don Lloyd

“Matt Kane lay face down in the muddy field, barely clinging to life … for some reason, he simply never considered the possibility that he might be the subject of a professional hit.” These words set the stage for Operation Destiny, a historical fiction mystery novel set in the mid-1950s by author Don Lloyd.

Lloyd will be Georgia Writers Museum’s (GWM’s) “Meet the Author” presenter Tuesday, Nov. 1, beginning 7 p.m. at the museum in downtown Eatonton.

The main character in Operation Destiny is ambushed in an obscure public park on Lake Minnetonka in the peaceful community of Excelsior, Minnesota, which initiates an investigation that uncovers a worldwide conspiracy.

As an investigative journalist, Matt Kane often pushed boundaries, a skill he learned as an Army Intelligence Officer in World War II. He sought out the undetected and exposed what he saw for everyone to see. His curiosity and persistence nearly cost him his life. Though not known to him, the attempt on Kane’s life was only a small part of a conspiracy to reorder the world.

But who was behind the treachery? And what role does Kane play in the operation? Can it be stopped? Come to the GWM “Meet the Author” event to hear the rest of the story.

Dr. Don Lloyd completed his Ph.D. degree in Public Policy at the University of Georgia. He has been a noted healthcare leader and speaker on healthcare administration issues, managerial ethics, accountability, leadership, and healthcare policy for almost four decades. He also has written extensively for various regional and national healthcare journals and authored three healthcare-related books.

A fee of $10 per person gains entry to the event, which begins at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Visit the Georgia Writers Museum (109 S Jefferson Ave, Eatonton) or go online at www.georgiawritersmuseum.org to register and pre-order a copy of Dr. Lloyd’s exciting mystery, Operation Destiny.

Following his talk, the author will be signing books.
