Imagine watching words jump off the page, turned into impressive works of art.
Welcome to the inaugural Paint Between the Lines, an innovative collaboration between Georgia Writers Museum (GWM) and The Artisans Village, just steps away from each other in downtown Eatonton. Paint Between the Lines presents a first-time collection of poems and stories by local writers with artwork by local artists inspired by the words within.
Paint Between the Lines debuted last Thursday evening with a successful opening reception at The Artisans Village Gallery, where the stunning effect of seeing prose and poetry come to life was on display, side by side with the equally varied artworks they inspired.
This Friday, Aug. 14, doors will open at 6 p.m. for a 6:30 p.m. program start at GWM (109 S. Jefferson Ave.), where Paint Between the Lines will take the next step through a unique “Read & Reveal” event. Authors will read their work, followed by their artist partners, who will unveil their artwork and describe how the chosen writing inspired it.
This will present a unique opportunity to learn how creative minds work, and to see the results, up close and personal. Light refreshments will be available, as will both authors and artists after the presentations. All artwork is available for sale.
The GWM event is free and open to the public, but online registration is required at georgiawritersmuseum.org.
Following the GWM Read & Reveal event, the Paint Between the Lines exhibit will resume at The Artisans Village Gallery (110 W. Marion St.) and the Georgia Writers Museum until mid-September.
A second Read & Reveal event is also scheduled for Sept. 19 at the nearby Barrel 118 event venue (118 N. Jefferson Ave.), also in Eatonton.
