Habitat for Humanity of Putnam County (HFHPC) announced last week that Publix Super Markets Charities has provided a $25,000 grant to support the construction of HFHPC Habitat Home No. 28 in Eatonton.
“Publix Charities is honored to support Habitat for Humanity of Putnam County in their efforts to provide stable housing for families in need,” Publix District Manager Rick Byrd said. “We believe that strong communities start with strong foundations, and we are proud to be a part of this important work.”
Publix Charities has a long history of giving back, supporting organizations that strengthen communities and help families build brighter futures, HFHPC Executive Director Murali Thiramul pointed out.
“This incredible gift marks the beginning of a new partnership between Publix Charities and Habitat Putnam, reinforcing our shared commitment to providing safe, affordable housing in our community,” Thirumal said.
He added that the investment in affordable housing ensures that hardworking families, including future Habitat homeowner Tawana Ellison and her daughter Gracelyn, have the opportunity to thrive in a home of their own.
“We are deeply grateful to Publix Charities for believing in our mission and investing in homeownership for local families,” Thiramul said. “This partnership is a testament to the power of community, and it will make a lasting impact for generations to come.”
HFHPC Marketing & Development Director Katherine Mahlberg stressed that the milestone partnership with Publix Charities would not have been possible without the encouragement of former HFHPC board chair Bucky Kahl, whose enthusiasm and insistence inspired the local Habitat team to reach out to Publix about potential collaborations.
“We owe a huge thank you to Bucky Kahl for his encouragement and belief in the power of partnerships,” Mahlberg said. “His leadership and guidance played a key role in making this happen, and we are incredibly grateful for his continued dedication to Habitat Putnam.”
