Occasional clouds and rumbling of thunder didn’t cast a dampener over the Fourth of July celebration at Oconee Springs Park.
The fun went on in, on and near the water, whether it was taking a dip, chilling out on a boat, cooking food on a grill, riding a bike, playing beach games, fishing, or just sitting in the shade and enjoying a fresh breeze. Oconee Springs Park, which has 41 RV sites and eight cabins, was full during the Independence Day weekend.
“It’s a family- and tourist-oriented park. We love to see people laughing and hugging and having a good time with their kids,” said Lonnie Campbell, park manager. “We look forward to people coming.”
The park includes RV sites, the beach area, boat launching and storage facilities, a propane filling station and the store. The beach area includes a volleyball court, a playground for the children with swings and slides, disc golf and corn hole boards. Kayaks, paddleboards and pedal boats are available for rent, as well as tents, beach umbrellas, and three new cabanas. Visitors can bring their own pop-up tents and beach umbrellas. Grills are available at the park at each cabin, RV site and picnic table.
The park also has an event center, which is mostly a wedding venue, but can be used for birthday parties and family reunions, too.
The park is open all year round. It is located at 109 South Spring Road in Eatonton. For more information or to book a cabin call 706-485-8423 or visit www. oconeesprings.com.
