LCP to present ‘Four Old Broads’ at Festival Hall

Lake Country Players is bringing “Four Old Broads,” a comedy by Leslie Kimball set in a madcap nursing home, to the stage at Festival Hall in downtown Greensboro.

The show runs nightly from March 20 to 22 at 7 p.m., with a 2 p.m. matinee performance scheduled for March 23.

Retired burlesque queen Beatrice Shelton (Debbie McCown) is in desperate need of a vacation — a sassy seniors’ cruise through the Caribbean. However, before she can set sail, Beatrice has to convince her friends, Eaddy Mae Clayton (Rusty Faulk) and Imogene Fletcher (Cindy Helms), to join her.

Meanwhile, life at Magnolia Place Assisted Living has taken a turn for the worse ever since sinister Nurse Pat Jones (Suzanne Vest) arrived. Imogene’s memory is suddenly fading, Maude Jenkins (Carol Grant) is preoccupied with her favorite soap opera and planning her own funeral, and retired Elvis impersonator Sam Smith (Greg Tantum) seems more interested in wooing every woman in the building than anything else.

As the ladies start to suspect something fishy is going on, a hilarious mystery unfolds. Determined to uncover the truth, Imogene goes undercover, and Maude enters the Miss Magnolia Senior Citizen Pageant to throw Nurse Pat off their trail. If they can outsmart the villain and solve the puzzle, they just might make it to their dream cruise after all!

The talented cast includes Kathy Wardlaw as Ruby Sue, Sherry Shutze as Luralee, Gail Wilkes and Heath Burton as Alexia and Carlton, and Erin McCurry as an understudy and Bingo player.

Directed by Mo Brower, this production promises an unforgettable night of humor and heart.

Tickets to “Four Old Broads” are $22 each and go on sale March 6 at lakecountryplayers.org or call 762-233-0039.
