The Madison-Morgan Cultural Center (MMCC, 434 S. Main St., Madison) will be holding a Mardi Gras-style masquerade ball on Feb. 10, 2024.
Guests are invited to arrive “dressed to the nines” for a ballgown and black-tie affair. Upon making a grand entrance, guests should prepare to be dazzled by the fashionable French Quarter stylings of New Orleans.
Then they will saunter and socialize throughout the event while savoring Harvest & Honey’s Cajun tapas and Creole dessert stations while enjoying drinks from a full bar.
Purchasing a reserved VIP table will include named brand bottle service at the table.
The adventure has just begun, though, as guests who wander down a “secret” entrance will reach the casino lights of a “speakeasy,” where “the action is on you” at the tables.
Also, Atlanta-based band, Get Down Town, will have guests burning up the dance floor like they’re on Bourbon Street. Just make certain to remember your mask – and make sure it’s fabulous! Prizes will be flowing alongside the champagne.
Additionally, the event will honor the 2024 Queen and King of the Ball, Morgan County’s own royalty, “Grand Dame” Chris Lambert, and Sir Stan “The Trumpet Man” DeJarnett. This year’s court includes Rachel Kinsaul, Traci Nelson, Katherine Webster, Christian Williams, Zeb Grant, Gene Massey, Patrick Sims, and James Williams.
You can support The Center by “donation voting” for any of the eight court members to be next year’s queen and king, and the emcee for the evening will be the always-entertaining Steve Speyer.
Finally, the event also will feature a silent auction of art specially created for this year’s Mardi Gras ball! Individual tickets or VIP tables can be purchased and reserved now by calling 706-342-4743 or visiting MMCC online at mmcc-arts.org.
Also, sponsors for this event are still being sought and secured, so anyone interested in sponsorship or donating should contact Susan Segrest by email at ssegrest@ mmcc-arts.org or by calling 706-342-4743. All event proceeds will help fund MMCC’s stage and visual arts programming, historic museum, building, grounds, and operations.
