MMCC presents spring tour of homes

This year, the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center (MMCC) will present its popular “Madison in May Tour of Homes” on May 16 and 17.

Several notable houses, including the iconic Bonar Hall, will be open and available on the tour, which serves as an important fundraiser for the region’s premier arts and humanities organization.

The tour headquarters will be at MMCC (434 S. Main St., Madison), where visitors can also visit the historic Madison-Morgan Cultural Center. This restored 1895 Romanesque Revival former schoolhouse is located in the center of Madison’s famed National Register Historic District.

The Center will be open during the tour, and guests can visit MMCC’s permanent collection, including “The Andrews Family Legacy: Rooted in the Agriculture and Arts of Morgan County” exhibit.

This exhibit showcases the artistic and literary contributions of members of the Andrews family, including world-renowned artist Benny Andrews, author Raymond Andrews, and folk artist George “Dot Man” Andrews.

MMCC’s permanent “Madison History Museum” exhibit includes a restored 1895 classroom and a gallery to showcase original furnishings from the Arts and Crafts period.

Early bird tickets for the Madison in May Tour of Homes are $30 each until May 1 and $40 afterward. MMCC offers a $10 discount per ticket for groups of 15 or more purchased at once.
