The annual Memorial Weekend Patriot Concert presented by OPAS was held last Saturday at The Farm near Greensboro. Fortunately, the rain stayed away this year, making the show hugely successful.
Opening this year were members of the Civil Air Squadron 55 GA Lake Country, followed by the voice of the Atlanta Braves, Timothy Miller, who sang to thunderous applause.
The large crowd, seated at tables and lawn chairs, was entertained by talented musicians in a symphony led by renowned conductor Larry Blank.
The Queens of Soul, featuring the dynamic vocal trio of Shayna Steele, who released her fourth studio album “Gold Dust” last year, Naarai Jacobs, backup singer for Beyonce, and singer/ songwriter Kelly Levesque, had the audience on its feet as they sang hits from the greats: Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Adele, Patti LaBelle, and others.
A few food trucks were on site for those whose picnic baskets ran short, and for the children, face painting and a magic castle inflatable bouncing house helped make this another great Memorial Day event.
