OPAS Soirée Blanc & Noir a success

The Oconee Performing Arts Society (OPAS) hosted Soirée Blanc & Noir, its annual “fun-raising” event, Sept. 6 at Barrel 118 in Eatonton.

Designed to celebrate the convergence of arts and philanthropy, the elegant evening achieved remarkable success in raising funds to support arts education programs in Lake Country.

With the venue adorned by seamlessly blended black-and-white decor to create a memorable ambiance, the evening unfolded within an atmosphere of timeless sophistication.

Attendees also indulged in a culinary journey, courtesy of Epting Events out of Athens, savoring a gourmet meal while fine wines and crafted cocktails flowed freely to enhance the experience. The highlight of the evening was world-class entertainment by cellist Barney Culver, while renowned opera singer Timothy Miller delivered a spellbinding vocal performance of “If I Can Help Somebody” that left guests in awe and served as a reminder of why so many attended.

Three recent and former OPAS Community Youth Chorus members also shared their talents with the crowd, and guests danced the night away to live music performed by Bogey and The Viceroy.

In addition to cultural delights, a silent and live auction was held, with proceeds earmarked for OPAS arts education programs, a core part of the organization’s mission. In 2022, OPAS brought live arts experiences to more than 3,500 local students while providing numerous music lessons and college scholarships.

“This event exemplifies our commitment to enriching our community through the arts.

The generosity of our supporters ensures that we can continue to provide educational opportunities for aspiring performing arts students,” OPAS Board Chair Margie Eddy-Forbes stated.

The OPAS Soirée Blanc & Noir event drew a sold-out crowd that mingled, connected, and celebrated a shared passion for the arts.

OPAS remains dedicated to fostering a vibrant arts community and looks forward to promoting future events that also emphasize the importance of arts education. For membership information or tickets to upcoming OPAS performances, visit online at opas.org.
