Putnam to celebrate National County Government Month

Putnam County will celebrate National County Government Month (NCGM) during the month of April to showcase how the county achieves a healthy, safe, and vibrant community.

The theme for this year’s celebration of NCGM is “Counties THRIVE,” demonstrating how counties help to improve people’s lives every day, especially for local government workers on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.

This year we will host the first “Government Fun Day” on April 14 at the Putnam County Administration Building from 2-4 p.m. The purpose of this event is to highlight effective county programs and raise public awareness about the services provided by the county. Citizens will have the opportunity to tour the Administration Building, meet county employees and elected officials, and learn more about how the county operates. There will also be activities and games for children. Hotdogs, cotton candy, and popcorn will be provided.

“Putnam County is proud of the programs and services we provide to our residents,” said Board Chair Billy Webster. “Our efforts combined with efforts of counties across the country are helping American communities respond to the needs of its citizens. I encourage all county residents to participate in National County Government Month outreach events to learn how the county can assist you and your loved ones.”
