Rotary Club Honors October students of the month

The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties names the following students as its Students of the Month for October 2024: Sarah Kate Mansfield, Josh Gentry, and Madyson Mincey.

The Club recognizes these students for their academic excellence, leadership, service, and commitment to positively impacting their communities.

Mansfield, the daughter of Jeff Mansfield, is a senior at Gatewood High School. She is a member of the varsity basketball and soccer teams, as well as Gatewood's Student Ambassador Program, Anchor Club, and more.

Mansfield works part-time at the Suds Club Car Wash and the Putnam County Recreation Department. She shows leadership through her roles as the vice president of her class and the varsity soccer team captain. She enjoys being a part of her community through the Farmers and Merchants Bank Junior Board and spending her free time hanging out with friends, going to Young Life, and playing basketball and soccer. After high school, she plans to major in diagnostic medical sonography.

Mansfield chose Beth Moss as her Rotary teacher of the month because when Mansfield steps foot into her class, she feels a sense of peace and comfort.

Gentry is the son of Jason and Stacey Gentry of Crawfordville. He has attended Nathanael Greene Academy since the second grade. Gentry was elected secretary of the Class of 2025 and has participated in many sports at Nathanael Greene Academy, but basketball is his favorite. This year, he is participating in the work release program. Gentry plans to pursue a career as a lineman after graduation. He selected Jane Morgan as his Nathanael Greene Academy teacher of the month.

Mincey is a student at Putnam County High School and the daughter of Crystal Cook-Mincey.

Mincey is involved in FCA, Beta Club, National Honor Society, and chorus. She loves volunteering at Lakepoint Community Church, where she is highly active in the children’s ministry and sings in the worship band at the youth group.

After high school, Mincey plans to attend college and pursue a degree in psychology. She plans to become a children's therapist. Mincey chose Amanda Stover as her teacher of the month.

Dr. Tyler Franks, co-chair of the Rotary student-of-the-month program, stated, “All of these students exemplify the Rotary motto of 'Service Above Self' through their dedication to their studies and communities.

We are thrilled to celebrate their achievements and look forward to seeing what they will accomplish in the future.”

The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties congratulates these outstanding students and teachers. Due to fall break, the Greene County High School students and Lake Oconee Academy will be recognized later.
