Surcheros supports Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Just weeks after opening its doors, Surcheros Fresh Mex at Lake Oconee is already making an impact beyond the dining table.

As part of its grand opening celebration, Surcheros donated $1,100 from its Community Day and opening week sales to Neighbors Helping Neighbors (NHN, nhnga.org), helping to support families in Greene and Putnam counties through critical home repairs, car repairs and replacement vehicles, and beds for children without one of their own.

The donation reflects Surcheros’ commitment to serving not only customers but the community as a whole.

“Giving back to the community is what we’re all about,” Surcheros owner Kyle Cullars said. “We love partnering with our guests. They support our family-owned business, and we’re thrilled to support the causes that are important to them. Their causes become ours as well.”

Since opening, the Putnam County restaurant alongside Hwy. 44 has received an enthusiastic welcome from the Lake Oconee community, serving more than 14,000 guests so far.

In addition to donating proceeds from its Community Day, Surcheros supported NHN as a sponsor of the organization’s recent Hats, Horses & Helping Hands Derby fundraiser.

“At NHN, we have the privilege of working alongside people who genuinely care about their neighbors, and that’s exactly what we found in Kyle and the Surcheros team,” NHN Executive Director Allyn Rippin said. “Before opening their doors, they were already asking how they could give back. That generosity of spirit says a lot about who they are, and we’re grateful for their support of local families in our community.”

NHN is a local nonprofit organization serving Greene and Putnam counties. NHN’s mission is to restore hope, stability, and dignity to neighbors facing hardship by helping meet essential needs that allow families to move forward.

“I am thankful to have learned about Neighbors Helping Neighbors and the awesome services the organization provides for the area,” Cullars said. “Partnering with NHN is a natural fit for us.”
