Hundreds of happy (hoppy?) kids descended upon Uncle Remus Golf Course Saturday morning for the 2nd annual Easter Egg Hunt presented by Project Putnam.
“This started with the 2024-24 Leadership Putnam class, and our group decided to continue on as Project Putnam to do some more community events, just to remain present and help out the folks in the community,” URGC Director of Golf Services Diane Carter explained. “The Easter egg hunt was one that we did last year that was very successful, very well received, and everybody had a good time, so we just decided to do it again, and we’ve had another great turnout this year."
Carter said lessons were learned from last year’s egg hunt, too, when all kids who attended were released at once to go searching for and collecting about 2,000 plastic eggs stuffed with candy, stickers, and even dollar bills.
“This year we separated the kids into three groups, under 5, 6-to-10 years old, and 11 to 13,” she explained. “We also had about 5,000 eggs this year, too, so everyone should have been able to collect at least a few eggs. We just wanted everyone to have fun and go home happy.”
Carter added that plans are already in place to repeat the Project Putnam Easter Egg Hunt next year.
