Marshall “Woody” Williams was honored at the rededication of the Morgan County Landmarks Society’s restored Memorial Gardens on Sept. 21. Williams, 100 years old and a World War II veteran, first worked as a Madison teacher and principal, and later as an electronics design engineer for the University of Georgia.
After retirement, he became Madison’s longtime archivist, and continuously serves as an unpaid volunteer. Family members in attendance included noted Georgia author Phil Williams and his wife, Linda, who also worked as an archivist for Morgan County.
Others attending included Landmark Society members, county officials, law enforcement officers, local citizens, and friends of the family.
