GWM names King as keynote speaker for writers’ retreat

Robbie King, the new president and CEO of the Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce, will be one of two keynote speakers at Georgia Writers Museum’s Writers Retreat: Write on the Lake. The retreat, scheduled for Feb. 21-23, will be held at the museum. It will begin with a 4 p.m.

Allied Arts hosts Lake Oconee Quilt Guild exhibit

Allied Arts in Milledgeville hosted its first exhibit of the year featuring hand-made quilts from the Lake Oconee Quilt Guild.“The quilts displayed are based on challenges set by the guild,” said Cookie Noel, a member of the Lake Oconee Quilt Guild member.

Progress made on completing Firefly Trail

This year, multiple projects will be underway to get the Firefly Trail closer to the finish line.According to trail development coordinator John Kissane, Firefly Trail Inc. (FTI) has completed 12 miles of the 39-mile trail.

‘Write on the lake’ retreat coming to GWM

Georgia Writers Museum is committed to continuing the legacy of great writers through its fourth annual writers retreat, Write on the Lake, which will take place Feb. 21-23 at the museum in downtown Eatonton.The Write on the Lake event will feature 20 renowned authors from across the South.

OPAS announces Mardi Gras event in Eatonton

Coming off another successful fall season, the Oconee Performing Arts Society (OPAS) is looking forward to opening its 2025 schedule on Feb. 21 with Mardi Gras and All That Jazz at Barrel 118 in Eatonton, featuring celebrated trumpeter and vocalist Byron Stripling as guest artist.
