Winter Wonderland comes to Lake Country

Last week, snow covered Putnam, Morgan, and Greene counties. Here are some photos submitted by readers of The Eatonton Messenger and the Lake Oconee News showing the winter wonderland.

Elvis lives on in hearts and minds at The Plaza

Elvis Presley may have left us decades ago, but last Thursday night his spirit very much lived on — and occasionally wandered the aisles of The Plaza Arts Center.

LOABA to host The Big Event in March

Presented by the Lake Oconee Area Builders Association (LOABA), The Big Event, a free, one-day festival featuring 160-plus local exhibitors, food vendors, and live entertainment, will return on March 21, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Lake Oconee Church in Greensboro.

‘Hairspray the Musical’ coming to The Plaza

The beat drops this January as “Hairspray the Musical” bursts onto the stage, live at The Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton. This high-energy, feel-good Broadway favorite premieres Jan. 22 and runs on various dates until Feb. 1 at The Plaza.

Lake Country’s 100 Women creates community impact

A room full of charity-minded women, a few five-minute presentations, and a simple promise to give — that’s the formula for 100 Women Who Care Lake Country (100WWCLC), a Greensboro-based group that continues to make a significant impact for local nonprofits.

Rotary recognizes December Students of the Month

The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties has recognized the following Students-of-the-Month- Month for December 2025: Jake Carnes and Addison Coker (Gatewood), Jevohn Walker (Greene County High School), Wyatt Imhof (Lake Oconee Academy), and Jackson Dodd (Putnam County High School).

Putnam performs at GCSU Education Day

The men’s and women’s basketball teams for the Georgia College Bobcats independently hosted two Education Days at the Centennial Center earlier this month. Over the span of two days, approximately 5,000 students from surrounding counties visited Milledgeville to watch the Bobcats in action.

FPC presents ‘Bah, Humbug No More’

The First Presbyterian Church on South Main Street in Greensboro presented its 3rd annual production of “Christmas, Bah Humbug No More!” Dec. 14, to an appreciative congregation.
