Two people were injured in a vehicle collision on Old Phoenix Road on Monday.
Two women were taken by ambulance to Putnam General Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, according to Putnam County Sheriff’s Sgt. Justin Brock.
A 2025 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Sean Bennett, 17, of Putnam County, was traveling north on the 600 block of Old Phoenix Road and stopped or slowed down to make a left turn into a small shopping center next to the carwash, Brock said.
As the Jeep turned, it struck a 2019 Honda Civic traveling southbound on Old Phoenix. The impact caused the Civic to go into a ditch and roll over. When emergency personnel arrived, they found the Honda resting on its roof.
“There were witnesses to the accident, and the driver was held at fault for failure to yield when turning left,” Brock said.
The driver of the Honda, 20-year-old Austyn Cutler of Putnam County, and her passenger, Jessica Waldron of New York, were both taken by emergency personnel to Putnam General.
On Tuesday, Brock said he did not know the status of their condition, but both were alert and talking after the crash.
