The Dollar General in Eatonton will open its doors to customers at 5 p.m. this evening, Oct. 21, according to Eatonton Fire Chief Eugene Hubert.
The store was closed on Oct. 19 by Hubert, Eatonton Police Chief Howell Cardwell and Eatonton Code Enforcement officer Terrence Nelson, because boxes crowded the store aisles and blocked the back door of the store, making it unsafe in the event of an emergency.
Hubert said the inspectors just left the store around 4:15 p.m. today.
"They have complied with every violation," he said. "They have cleaned all the boxes up, things are up on the shelves, the back room is cleared, and the floors have been mopped. It is all back in compliance."
The store will open at 5 p.m., and officials will be back over there to inspect it this evening after it has been opened awhile, and will return to check on it frequently from now on, the fire chief said.
