Eatonton Marine advances through military training

Eatonton’s own Lance Corporal James Major Stanford recently completed the final course of Marine Corps Reconnaissance training – Amphibious Reconnaissance – at Camp Pendleton, Calif. Stanford will next begin advanced training, attending Army Airborne Jump School at Fort Benning, Ga.; Marine Corps Combatant Dive School in Panama City, Fla.; and Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) training.

Becoming a Reconnaissance Marine is an exceptionally demanding process, requiring candidates to successfully complete a rigorous selection and training pipeline designed to test physical endurance, mental resilience, technical proficiency, and determination.

Earning the 0321 Military Occupational Specialty, Stanford has joined the ranks of Marine Corps Reconnaissance Marines, a specialized community entrusted with conducting reconnaissance and surveillance operations in extremely challenging environments.

Lance Corporal Stanford is the son of Amy Stanford and grandson of Lynn and Margie Stanford, all of Eatonton.
