A dispute between an employer and employee at a local manufacturing plant Monday escalated to death threats and an arrest, according to authorities.
Eatonton Police Chief Howell Cardwell said officers were called to Cosmo Cabinets on Industrial Boulevard in Eatonton around 8:30 a.m. Monday because an employee there had been fired from his job and threatened his boss’s life.
When officer Chris Detweiler arrived on the scene, the boss and employee, later identified as Derrick Alexander, were outside the business, but Alexander reportedly ran away into the woods when he saw the police officer’s vehicle pull up. The victim told Detweiler that the employee threatened to kill him with a gun; witnesses confirmed the story, saying they also heard the threats, Cardwell said.
Eatonton Police Sgt. Howard Clemons also responded to the call and began searching the area for the disgruntled former employee. Clemons picked up Alexander down the road around another manufacturing plant and arrested him.
Derrick Deongelus Alexander, 26, of Hidden Pines Drive, Covington, was charged with felony terroristic threats and acts.
