Forsyth Antiques and More, an antique store in Forsyth, is approaching its first anniversary.
The business is located at 816 Highway 41 South in Forsyth, and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. To reach staff, call 478-550-3001.
Dianne Hattaway, co-owner of the antique store, is originally from Lizella. She presently lives in Holbrook and opened the antique store in Forsyth after people expressed a need for a new business in the area.
“We are an antiques and more store. We have antiques, vintage, new, gifts and furniture. You name it, we have it,” she said. “Carol was doing estate sales and I was renting a booth with my stuff. We were selling things on a very small scale before the business.”
According to Hattaway, Forsyth Antiques and More has become the largest antique mall in Middle Georgia. The business has over 150 booths and vendors. The mall is located in an old cotton mill and Hattaway believes the location is perfect based on customer interest.
“People walk around and reminisce about the things their grandmothers used to have or the things they had as a child. These are things that bring back a lot of happy memories. This is definitely a happy place,” Hattaway said.
Carol Robeson, the other co-owner of the antique store, lives in Macon but loves driving to Forsyth almost daily. Everyone has been welcoming to her and she expresses gratitude for being able to interact with the community through their business.
“Both of us have always enjoyed hunting for different items and decorating. This business fell into our laps, and we went with it,” she said. “The items being sold here are a wonderful way to clean out your house, especially after you’ve inherited a lot of things and have no more room for your items in your home.”
Whether visiting the store for nostalgia or to simply look around, customers can find merchandise that is affordable and full of memories. The owners can’t wait to see people at their upcoming anniversary celebration and welcome any new customers to visit.
“I have loved decorating all my life, and walking through the store, finding new and unique items and looking at the way the vendors have decorated their booths makes it where I can’t stop buying things myself. It is fun, there is always something new and it’s just a great place to be,” Roberson said.
During its anniversary on Nov. 12, Forsyth Antiques and More will also be welcoming Santa and Mrs. Claus along with children’s author Vicki Smith and singer/ songwriter Caleb Dunn to celebrate at the store. They hope everyone will come to celebrate and check out what Forsythe Antiques and More has to offer.
“My favorite thing about Forsyth Antiques and More is the wonderful vendors, customers and friends we have made,” Robeson said. “I enjoy seeing them come in to see our many items. It’s a perfect place to be, and we would love to see new customers.”
