Man in chicken suit commits ‘fowl’

The chicken didn’t cross the road last week but instead hit the vehicles attempting to pass by.

A “male dressed in a chicken suit” was reportedly walking on the 100 block of East River Bend Drive “shouting and beating on the hood" of an SUV that was traveling west and had stopped in front of the man.

“The vehicle turned into a driveway, turned around, and left the scene,” Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Adams wrote in his report of the incident.

The man in the chicken suit then walked over to the front of an ambulance and started doing the same thing to it.

When Deputy Adams drove around to intercept the man clad in “a yellow onesie-style pajama outfit meant to resemble a chicken,” he “hit the rear of Deputy Adams’ patrol vehicle with his fists,” Corporal Chris Donovan wrote in his report.

Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputy Adams, Cpl. Donovan and Putnam County EMS Service responded to the call shortly before 3 p.m. on Nov. 19 regarding a man who was reportedly having “an adverse reaction to hallucinogenic mushrooms he had taken.”

In his report, Donovan described that “the man’s body was tense, he was foaming from the mouth, and his movements were explosive.”

The man, later identified as Jason Pinch, had swallowed approximately 13 capsules that contained mushrooms, his girlfriend reportedly told Adams.

She said the two had been living together, but they had broken up two days earlier and were trying to “talk through their breakup” when Pinch took the capsules around noon that day. As his reaction worsened over the next few hours, the girlfriend called 911.

As Adams and Donovan attempted to gain control of Pinch, he reportedly resisted and attempted to get away from them, so he was tased once and then again after repeated failed attempts to contain him.

After they had him in handcuffs, the EMTs tried to check Pinch’s blood pressure and remove the taser prongs, during which he began “to yell that this was not real, and if this was happening,” Donovan wrote in his report.

“Pinch became irate and yelled this was not real,” Donovan added. “Pinch also asked if he was a chicken or a man.”

Adams wrote that Pinch asked him “if he was at that time laying in his hammock at home.”

Pinch also asked Adams if he (Adams) was real.

Jason Matthew Pinch, 47, of East River Bend Drive, was booked into Putnam County jail on charges of disorderly conduct, willful obstruction of law enforcement officers (misdemeanor), and willful obstruction of law enforcement officers by use of threats or violence.

He later was released on $3,177.50 property bonds.
