Prior to Monday night’s board meeting for the Putnam County Charter School System, Superintendent Derrick Austin recognized and honored September’s Students of the Month.
Brooklyn Ellison (center) from the primary school, Baylee Jean Rabon (not present) of Putnam County Elementary School, middle school student Jeovany Rodriguez (left), and Putnam County High School’s Carlos Jimenez each received certificates prior to the meeting’s start.
Also recognized during the PCCSS board meeting were the academic achievements of the system’s Advanced Placement (AP) students. Each year, the College Board awards the title of AP Scholar to students who demonstrate academic excellence and a commitment to rigorous coursework.
This year, 14 students in grades 10–12 earned AP Scholar recognition, including seven who achieved AP Scholar with Distinction.
Putnam County High School’s Class of 2025 AP Scholars includes Kelsey Bowers, Mackenzie Degner, Regina Espin, Kaden Thompkins, and Jaevien Turner, plus current AP Scholars Hannah Erickson, Leland Erickson, Alexander Jimenez, Carlos Jimenez, Jonathan Lorenzo Cinto (not present), Juan Patino (not present), Vidhi Raiyani, Carolyn Thomas, and Addison Usry.
Significantly, Alexander Jimenez earned AP Scholar recognition as a 10th-grade student, an exceptional achievement reached by very few so early in their academic journey.
