The Waterway Soiree, scheduled for Aug. 23-25 in Greensboro and on Lake Oconee, has announced Publix Supermarket as its official grocer, with nearby anchor stores in Greensboro and Milledgeville.
As the official grocer of the Waterway Soiree, Publix will be onsite at all weekend festivities. It will provide food for the chef headliners, Myron Mixon’s “Meat and Greet,” and Mark Cameron’s “Jamaican Me Crazy Island Hop.” Additionally, Publix will sponsor a kid’s cookie decorating activity and community activation tents.
The 2024 Waterway Soiree will kick off with its Livin’ La Vida Laka Welcome Party on Friday evening, Aug. 23. This is a general admission dance party at Sixty-Two in Madison.
Attendees will enjoy catered food and drinks from Mad Hospitality Group, a tour of Madison cuisine, and lively DJ tunes while dancing the night away.
The official Waterway Soiree will kick off from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, with an official proclamation of Waterway Soiree Day in Greensboro by Mayor Corey Williams.
The event will be held at the Lake Oconee Brewing Company, a nod to downtown Greensboro, and will feature headliner chef Mixon.
The themed lake hops on Lake Oconee will operate from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Event proceeds will benefit the Kirby Smart Family Foundation and Greene County Habitat for Humanity.
All Waterway Soiree Lake Hop destinations can be accessed by car or boat. Festivities will include raffle prizes, curated themed parties, elevated entertainment, and activities. Food and drinks will be sold at each stop, prepared by exclusive chef headliners. Themes include a “Jamaican Me Crazy” Island Hop, a “Mexican Fiesta” Hop, a “Meat and Greet” and “Farm-to-Table” Hop, and a “Delectable Dessert” Hop.
Lake Hop tickets also include free park entrance to Old Salem and Parks Ferry Park. The four themed stops will include entertainment, kid-friendly activities, and dog events. Each ticket also includes a raffle ticket for incredible prizes and a pictorial lake map featuring all hop locations.
The Sunday, Aug. 25 Waterway Soiree “Rock the Dock” wrap-up party at Oconee Brewery in downtown Greensboro will be complimentary for all Waterway Soiree ticket holders. This event will feature a celebrity Superbowl DJ sponsored by Nice Entertainment, who will play rocking tunes all afternoon.
There will be fun kids activities, food trucks, and exclusive “Rock the Dock” beer and Waterway Soiree-themed seltzers for sale. Also, more Waterway Soiree raffle prizes will be awarded at this event.
Five-time BBQ world champion Myron Mixon, the “winningest man in BBQ,” mayor of Unadilla, and owner of Jack’s Old South restaurants. Mixon will present a “Meat and Greet” cooking demo and book signing with storytelling.
Mark Cameron, the guest chef at the famous Wynwood Miami Jamaican restaurant Dunkunoo, owned the acclaimed Caribbean Grill in Oceanside, Calif.
